As the Luxembourgish Museum is the only national Museum of Natural History in the border region between France, Belgium, Luxemburg and Germany, one of its aims is to encourage and support cross-border projects. In the beginning of 2000, Peter J. Neu, working mainly on Trichoptera of Rhineland-Palatinate and Luxembourg, had the idea of making an atlas of the Trichoptera of the Moselle bassin which forms a clearly delimited geographical unit. In the first meeting in february 2000 fourteen trichopterists and other entomologists of all four countries met, showing interest for the project. The aim is to collect in the database of the Museum the already existing Trichoptera-datas of the Moselle bassin and to fill the gaps in yet poorly investigated sites of the region. The result will be in about 10 years the german-french publication of an atlas of Trichoptera of the Moselle bassin.
All interested entomologists are welcome to join the project. Meetings take place two times a year (in the Museum of Natural History in Luxembourg or in the field for collecting new datas).
